I love, love, love Young Living's Thieves Hand Soap. It smells amazing and every time we are using it, we are getting a boost in immunity, which is definitely needed this time of year. As I've said before, I've never been much of a DIYer, that is until I started using essential oils. All the research and scanning of the products I was using before, has motivated me to make so many of my own wonderful household products, using my beloved oils. And y'all, it's SUPER easy AND great on the budget! Once my Thieves Hand Soap from YL ran out, I knew I could make my own. Now, I will say that I do love the premade version a tad bit better than mine, but I think only because it smells a little stronger...so I probably should just add more drops of Thieves and it will be perfection. Just keep dropping until it smells just right for you!
This morning a made a triple recipe and poured it in a jug for easy refills. Now we'll be set for the next couple of months! Now, you can make this using any essential oil, but I'm pretty stuck on Thieves. Sometimes I'll make Peppermint, Lemon, Lavender, or Citrus Fresh, but my favorite is Thieves. I would like to try Rosemary and Lemon though. That sounds pretty dreamy. The possibilities are endless!
DIY Hand Soap
In an 8 oz. foam pump bottle combine ingredients in this order:
2 oz. unscented castile soap (I use Dr Bronners)
1 Tablespoon of fractionated coconut oil
1 Tablespoon of vegetable glycerin
10-15 drops of Young Living essential oil (I use Thieves)
Stir and add distilled water to fill the bottle.
Now you will have happy clean hands! (My husband also loves it clean his glasses. Interesting, huh?) All ingredients, minus the EOs, can be found at Target, on Amazon, or at your local grocery store. Most are stocking those carrier oils now., but please, please, please do not buy your essential oils at the grocery store! Purity is SUPER important! Read why here. Try it out and let me know what you think. Happy DIYing.
